Anne Holton completes three-day campaign swing

Anne Holton completed her swing through Western and Southwest Virginia to campaign on behalf of her husband, Tim Kaine, on Thursday. Holton brought her Small Business Listening Tour to Marion and Floyd, where she toured downtown businesses and met with groups of small business owners and community leaders. At each event, Holton discussed Kaine’s economic vision and strategies to create jobs, level the playing field for small businesses, and develop a talent economy.

In Marion, Holton met with small business owners and community leaders at Handsome Molly’s, where she spoke about Kaine’s balanced approach and record of fiscal responsibility. After the discussion, she toured downtown businesses, making stops at Bank of Marion, Cornett Jewelers, Just for Men Barber Shop, and Francis Brothers hardware store.

“As governor, Tim worked across the aisle to improve the lives of all Virginians—balancing $5 billion in necessary cuts to state spending with strategic investments in areas like infrastructure and education,” said Holton to the crowd at Handsome Molly’s. “Tim’s tough choices helped strengthen Virginia’s economy and encourage long-term economic growth.”

In the afternoon, Holton met with supporters and local business owners at the Floyd Country Store before touring downtown businesses in Floyd, including Woolly Jumper Yarns, Troika Crafts, and A Little Monkey Business.  Throughout the event, Holton emphasized Kaine’s record of working across the aisle to move the Commonwealth forward. His commitment to Virginia’s workforce development and sound fiscal management helped the state earn recognition as Forbes’ “Best State for Business” four years in a row, Governing magazine’s “Best Managed State,” and Education Week’s best state to raise a child.

“Throughout his time in public service, Tim has displayed a remarkable talent for bringing people together to focus on finding solutions to the problems we face,” Holton told local supporters at the Floyd Country Store. “As a city councilman, mayor, lieutenant governor, and governor, Tim worked to find common ground to achieve results for Virginians. And as a senator, I am confident that he will work to break through the Washington gridlock and focus on moving Virginia forward.”
