Allen makes local stops on pre-primary state tour

Today, George Allen made campaign stops in Lynchburg, Lovingston and Charlottesville during the second week of his “Send a Message” tour.

In Lynchburg, he was joined by Sen. Steve Newman, Del. Scott Garrett and local supporters for a “Send a Message” GOTV Event at Bob Evans Restaurant. Over breakfast, he participated in a discussion with supporters and local officials about the importance of sending responsible fiscal policies to Washington and allowing businesses to invest, expand and create jobs.

“It is vital for the growth of Lynchburg and for the region, to elect a proven, conservative leader to Washington,” said Garrett. “George Allen has a long history of being such a leader, and I am proud to stand beside him today to encourage you to support him on June 12th and in November against Tim Kaine.”

Later in the morning, Allen brought the “Send a Message” tour to Lovingston, where he shared his message of restoring American values in Washington and reversing what he termed the counterproductive, irresponsible policies of President Obama and Tim Kaine.

“The problem with Washington is they don’t understand that the best social program is a job,” said Allen. “My campaign is about local business owners, entrepreneurs, families, and those struggling in the work force. To me, this election is about them. Instead of encouraging business growth and allowing businesses to grow and create jobs, Washington’s counterproductive policies are making it difficult for businesses to pay their bills, hire new employees and to live the American Dream. I am not running to be Washington’s voice back home; I am running to be your voice in Washington.”

Allen also visited Charlottesville, where he went on a tour of Silverchair, a local job-creator.
