An Albemarle County man is in custody after a pursuit on Seminole Trail on Saturday.

Jeffrey Wayne Shifflett, 58, of Dyke, was arrested on outstanding warrants for shoplifting and felony eluding.

Shifflett is believed to have also fled from law enforcement on Sept. 3 and Oct. 13, according to a report from the Albemarle County Police Department.

An ACPD officer attempted a traffic stop of Shifflett at 5:38 p.m. in the area of Seminole Trail and Rio Road.

Shifflett fled, and the pursuit continued to the Earlysville area, where officers got Shifflett’s vehicle to stop using a controlled maneuver.

Shifflett attempted to flee on foot, but didn’t get very far.

Shifflett faces three counts of felony eluding, three counts of driving without a license, felony property damage, and additional traffic infractions.

He is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
