The Albemarle County Police Department is asking residents in and around Rocks Farm Drive to check their home surveillance systems after an attempted robbery on Saturday night.
Homes in The Rocks neighborhood on the outskirts of Charlottesville average $1.5 million in value.
According to police, on Saturday night, at approximately 8:05 p.m., a homeowner called 9-1-1 to report that two Spanish-speaking individuals were attempting to gain entry into the residence.
The homeowner reported that the suspects cut the power to the home and entered. However, when the suspects encountered the homeowner and a dog, they fled.
No injuries were reported.
When officers arrived on scene eight minutes after the initial call, the suspects were no longer at the residence. ACPD conducted a search of the immediate area and came up empty-handed. The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office provided a drone operator to assist in the search, but efforts ended at 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
ACPD is asking residents in the area to check their home surveillance systems for footage captured on Sept. 13 between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The investigation remains ongoing.
