AEW Notebook: Somebody’s losing their hair at ‘Grand Slam Australia’

I watch a lot of classic wrestling, and I was thinking, literally last night, watching AEW “Collision,” hey, it’s been forever since we’ve seen a hair vs. hair match, like we used to see back in the old days.

That problem is being taken care of.

Toni Storm challenged Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir to a mixed tag hair vs. hair match with her partner, Orange Cassidy, to take place at “Grand Slam Australia” on Feb. 14.

Funny thing about this for me: earlier in the day, I happened upon an interview with Jerry Lawler on YouTube in which Lawler went over, among many other things, his history with “Superstar” Bill Dundee in Memphis, which included two hair vs. hair matches – one that Lawler won, forcing Dundee to endure the loss of his hair, and then a unique followup.

In the second match, Dundee put up the hair of his wife against Lawler’s hair.

The psychology there: no way Dundee loses that one.

He lost.

The stip for the match in Australia is, the person who loses the fall gets the shaved head.

I’m thinking Storm takes the fall here.

And in the process, the faces complete the easy sweep of their feud with the heels, after Kris Statlander retained in her world title defense with Thekla on “Dynamite” on Wednesday.
