AEW ‘Dynamite’ preview: MJF eliminator match, Omega-Andrade highlight

For the umpteenth time: “eliminator matches,” a favorite of AEW head honcho Tony Khan, are just plain dumb.

The way Khan has always done these things, he has the champ of a particular persuasion in the match with a top contender, which, if the contender wins, the contender then gets a title shot.

As opposed to:

• Just having the champ defend the title against the challenger.
• Having two top contenders fight each other for the title shot.

The reasoning being given behind having AEW World champ Maxwell Jacob Friedman face off with Brody King in the eliminator match set for Wednesday’s “Dynamite” is, King hasn’t beaten anybody to earn a title shot.

OK, so … how in the sam hill did King earn the right to an eliminator match, then?

I get it, pro wrestling has its own logic, but you don’t have to treat us like we’re dipsh*ts.

• Kenny Omega vs. Andrade El Idolo: This is how you do things. Khan announced a contenders’ series to determine who gets a world title shot at “Revolution” in March. This match is part of that series. Note that MJF isn’t scheduled to be a part of this series, because he’s already the champ.
• Ricochet defends the AEW National title against Jungle Jack Perry: It feels too soon for Ricochet to drop the belt.
• “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Mark Davis: This one needs to be quick, but won’t be.
• Young Bucks in action: Apparently, they’re challenging the entirety of the tag division. Will be interesting to see which heels come out to answer.
