Actor Kal Penn fires up Obama volunteers in NoVa

Tuesday night, actor Kal Penn joined nearly 300 volunteers at a young professionals event and phone bank in Arlington to discuss the importance of the 2012 election.

“It’s inspiring to see so many young people come out tonight to have conversations about accomplishments like student loan reform, equality, jobs, ending the war in Iraq, and all the other amazing progress the president has made for young Americans,” said Penn. “The stakes in this election are extremely high and none of us want to see the country move backwards.”

A long-time Obama supporter, Penn helped in outreach efforts in states across the country in 2008, and is back on the trail this year.”

“We’re all thrilled to have Kal Penn here to get folks fired up,” said 25 year old Northern Virginia volunteer Greg Wright. “Mitt Romney has a lot of catching up to do if he wants to match the enthusiasm Virginians have for President Obama. While Romney and his SuperPAC allies focus on attacking the president over the airwaves with millions of dollars of negative ads, we’ll be on the ground having neighbor-to-neighbor conversations about everything President Obama has done to bring good jobs back to Virginia and create an economy built to last.”

The campaign currently has 16 offices open in the Commonwealth, and volunteers have been actively organizing in their communities to discuss President Obama’s accomplishments for Virginia families.
