Chris Graham

600px-I-64Repairs to the bridge carrying eastbound I-64 over Route 29 (Monacan Trail) in Charlottesville will affect traffic at exit 118B next week.

A contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation will make repairs to the deck of the I-64 bridge, work that will require closing the Route 29 southbound on-ramp to I-64 east and the I-64 east off-ramp to Route 29 north. The closures will occur nightly for four consecutive nights beginning Monday, July 28, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

During the closures, Route 29 southbound traffic will continue past the I-64 eastbound on-ramp to the next crossover and make a U-turn, then merge right onto the ramp for I-64 east.

I-64 eastbound traffic wishing to use Route 29 north will continue to exit 120 (5th Street) and reenter I-64 headed westbound, then take exit 118B onto Route 29 north.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel website,www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia.
