Virginia gets second ACC road win

virginia basketballVirginia didn’t need a historic rally this time. The 11th-ranked Cavs dominated #16 Louisville from the opening tip in a 63-47 win on Saturday.

UVA (17-4, 6-3 ACC) needed a buzzer-beating banked three to get its first ACC road win Tuesday night at Wake Forest, but the only thing dramatic about Saturday’s game was how dramatically different the ‘Hoos looked on defense.

Louisville (17-4, 6-2 ACC) was 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) from the field with 10 turnovers in the opening half, and Virginia led 29-14 at the break.

UVA shot 56.5 percent from the floor (13-of-23) in the first half, and opened the second half on a 12-4 run to erase whatever doubts as to the outcome there may have been.

Malcolm Brogdon and Anthony Gill each had 13 points to lead the Cavs.

Damion Lee and Trey Lewis, who had averaged a combined 30.4 points per game coming in, were limited to a total of 10 on 3-of-13 shooting.
