jmu logoJames Madison Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne announced on Monday that sophomore guard Andre Nation (Plant City, Fla./Faith Baptist Christian) has been suspended for 15 games due to a violation of athletic department policy.

“It is an unfortunate situation,” commented Bourne. “I feel for the coaches, our student-athletes and many other folks who are invested in our program. We’re disappointed in Andre and hope that he is able to learn from this incident.”

The suspension will keep Nation out of action until JMU’s second Colonial Athletic Association game of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at the College of Charleston.

Head Coach Matt Brady added, “We’re disappointed in Andre’s actions, and we hope that he learns a life lesson, that he is part of something greater than himself and is accountable to his team and to the entire JMU community.”

Brady continued, “That said, we have a talented freshman class that is eager to get after it. This will provide an opportunity for someone else to step up, and we’re confident that we have the right guys in place to do that.”
