How to get an online divorce

Contributors

Have you come to the conclusion that it is time to separate from your significant other? The unfortunate truth is that some marriages aren’t going to last forever. In fact, most marriages will ultimately end prematurely. It can be heartbreaking, but it is bound to happen at some point or another. Once you’ve confirmed that you want a divorce, you’ll want to get it over with as quickly as possible. Thankfully, you might be able to get a divorce online. That is really the quickest and easiest way to get divorce and move on with the rest of your life.

Your first decision

To get an online divorce, you first need to figure out what route you’re going to take. You have two. First and foremost, you can take advantage of an online document company. This is usually more expensive, but you might receive assistance along the way. If you prefer to do everything on your own, you’ll want to use your state’s court site. Both options will work, but only one is going to be ideal for you. Be sure to consider your skill level and choose the option that best suits you.

Is it uncontested?

Next, you’ll need to make sure that the divorce is uncontested. If you want a quick divorce in California, you have to be certain that your significant other is happy with the decision. If they do not want a divorce, you’re going to be required to jump through a few more hurdles and you might not be able to file for the divorce online. Figure out the truth in advance or you might be wasting your time and energy.

Complete the paperwork

In order to get divorced online, you have to submit the appropriate paperwork. That might seem easy initially. However, it is going to be a little tougher than you might believe. After all, you have to make sure that the paperwork is completed in full. There are various forms that you’ll need to fill out and you might need personal documents too. Once you’ve gotten everything together, be sure to double check it. This is the best way to avoid errors and delays.

Paying the fees

After that, you’ll want to go ahead and head to the state’s court site. Check the website thoroughly until you’re able to find out what you need to do to file the divorce paperwork. If all else fails, you may need to speak with the county clerk. When attempting to submit the documents, you’ll also be required to pay a fee. Pay the fee and you’ll be well on your way to being divorced.

Completing the divorce agreement

Finally, you’ll need to complete the divorce agreement with your significant other. This can be tough, if you and your spouse do not get along. Nevertheless, this is a necessity. Be sure to sit down with your spouse and come to an agreement that you’re both happy with. After you’ve both managed to complete and submit the divorce agreement, the process will be complete.
