If you are wondering what a small country where you can carry out a profitable business is, Europe is the continent where you will find many of them. Luxembourg, Belgium, Poland, they are all states where doing business is easy. However, if you want the “jewel of the crown”, then you should probably head out to the Netherlands. And below, you will also find out why.

The “Gateway to Europe”

In case you didn’t already know, this is the moniker of this country because of its location. What does it mean? If you decide to start the company incorporation procedure in the Netherlands, your products can reach almost the entire states on the Old Continent in just….24 hours. So, yes, setting a business here means gaining access to one of the largest consumer markets in the world with very little effort on the logistics side.

Business registration flexibility

Since mentioning the registration of a business, another advantage is that you can choose between several forms. However, it is recommended to go for the private limited liability company, the so-called BV, which everybody uses because:

  • it requires no minimum capital (of course, you still need to make sure you have some money to open and keep it running, it’s just that the amount will not be imposed on you);
  • it can be incorporated quite fast (even a few days if you use a specialized service);
  • you can operate in any sector you want through it.

Also, you don’t even need to appoint a local director. This means that you can set up the enterprise remotely and manage it the same way.

You will also find employees in the Netherlands

What is the good in starting a business in a country if you don’t have personnel to make it work? None. But this is not the case in the Netherlands. Not only will you find employees here, but you will tap into one of the most well-prepared labor forces in the EU.

The Dutch workforce stands out through diversity (many expats) and education. Also, the favorable taxation system applicable to foreign employees will enable you to hire people from other countries, if needed.

Great tax system for small businesses

The Dutch authorities have taken a step forward in helping small businesses. What does that mean? If you make less than 200,000 euros per year, your company will pay a 19% corporate tax. For profits above this threshold, you will pay a fixed sum of 38,000 euros, plus 25.8% on the earnings above the 200,000 euros. Or you can open an innovative business and only pay a 9% corporate tax.

These are some of the obvious advantages you will get if you decide to open a company in the Netherlands. However, if you talk to other people, you will probably discover more on this great country when it comes to doing business here. And if you do decide to manage your company yourself, then you will also find it great to move and live there.
