James Madison University and the Virginia State Bar’s Diversity Conference will present Jazz 4 Justice at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 in the Forbes Center Concert Hall.
The concert will feature the JMU Jazz Ensemble directed by Dr. Chuck Dotas, the JMU Jazz Band directed by Dr. David Stringham, and the return of special guest conductor WHSV-TV3 meteorologist George Hirschmann. This annual concert is celebrating five years at the Forbes Center and benefits Blue Ridge Legal Services and JMU’s School of Music scholarships.
Jazz 4 Justice will feature hits from the big-band swing era, and audience members are encouraged to bring their own instruments to participate in a post-concert jam session in the Forbes Center Grand Lobby.
“This concert brings together education, music and law in an innovative concert that has seen steady growth each year over the last five years. Audiences are coming back as well as spreading the word about this exciting event,” says Jen Kulju, of the Forbes Center.
