Poll: Ben Carson closing in on Donald Trump?

AFP

carsonSurgeon Ben Carson is surgin’ in the Republican polls, according to a new survey of voters by CBS News and the New York Times.

Carson was at 23 percent among voters in the national poll gauging Republican voters’ preferences for president, just four points behind celebrity Donald Trump.

Trump saw his share of the vote increase from 24 percent in August to 27 percent in September, but Carson was the big mover, going from 6 percent in August to his 23 percent status in September.

No other Republican candidate was above 6 percent. Jeb Bush, once perceived to be the front-runner for the GOP nomination, lost more than half his support, going from 13 percent in August to 6 percent in September.

Remember Scott Walker? Another favorite to be in the race for the long haul, the Wisconsin governor went from 10 percent in August to 2 percent – yes, 2 percent – in September.
