augusta-county2editsButch Wells won’t seek a full term representing the Beverley Manor District on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors.

Wells, a retired Staunton police chief, had been appointed to the seat in May, replacing David Karaffa, who stepped down after accepting a job out of state.

Wells had been planning to run for a full two-year term on the board in the November election, according to published reports, but decided against it citing his desire to maintain flexibility in his retirement.

The decision leaves Republican Terry Kelley as the only candidate on the ballot in the Beverley Manor District in the November election.
