Harrisonburg Turks top Aldie Senators, 5-3

hbg turksFirst baseman Aaron Dodson’s (Baylor) two-run single snapped a 3-3 tie and capped a four-run sixth inning in Harrisonburg’s 5-3 Valley Baseball League victory Tuesday evening against visiting Aldie at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Turks won for the eighth straight outing and improved to 20-6 with the league’s best overall record.  The Turks have also opened up a 3.5-game lead over Staunton in the South.

The Senators had a six-game win streak snapped and slipped to 13-12.

Patrick Wiseman (Georgia Tech) picked up the win and improved to 3-0 with three innings of shutout relief.  He gave up one hit and a walk and fanned five.  Tyler Brown earned his third save with a pair of strikeouts in a perfect ninth.

Harrisonburg center Shane Billings (Wingate) continue to wield a hot bat, raising his average to .404 by going 2-for-3. Third baseman Tyler Straub (Texas San Antonio) went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Left fielder Kameron Esthay (Baylor) put the Turks on the board with a solo homer in the third.

Aldie, which led 3-0 after 2 ½ innings, had no player with more than one hit of its seven total.
