Business of Food Conference set for Monday

economic-forecast-headerThe Central Virginia and Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Centers will hostthe Business of Food Conference: Recipe for Success. All who desire to start or have an established food business are invited to attend.

The conference will feature 15 workshops including three panel discussions as well as Keynote speaker, Emmy-nominated Chef Nathan Lyon.

The Conference will be on Monday, June 29, from 8:00am4:30pm at the JMU Festival and Conference Center in Harrisonburg, VA. Registration cost is $99 with an optional Mixology reception add-on. Those who can’t make the full conference but would like to hear Chef Nathan Lyon speak may register for lunch separately. More information can be found at www.BusinessofFoodConference.com.

“Food businesses are some of the most challenging and fast-changing; every bit of professional knowledge and skills are needed to be profitable,” says Betty Hoge, CV SBDC Director. “We know we have enormous interest and experience in this region, so this conference brings novices and pros together with industry resources to focus on their specific needs.”

Topics for the conference cater to multiple types of food professionals, including workshops on Growing Sales, Managing HR, Food Production, and Marketing and Branding.  TEDx motivational speaker Jim Harshaw will open the conference along with representatives from the National Restaurant Association and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.
