VMI baseball alum Reed Garrett promoted to High-A High Desert

Chris Graham

vmi_logo2Former VMI pitcher Reed Garrett has been promoted to the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, the California League’s High Desert Mavericks, according to information released by Texas earlier this week.

Garrett, who was VMI’s Friday starter during the 2014 season, opened the season pitching for the South Atlantic League’s Hickory Crawdads, the low-A Texas affiliate. Garrett went 3-3 with a 3.47 ERA in Hickory’s rotation, and when former top prospect Cody Buckel was moved to Hickory to become a starter for the second time, Garrett got the call to High Desert.

Former VMI player Sam Roberts is also pitching in the California League for the Stockton Ports. Stockton and High Desert face off August 24-27.
