Combined design public hearing scheduled for Route 151 in Nelson County

Chris Graham

road-work-headerThe Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a combined design public hearing this month to show plans for two proposed turn lane projects on Route 151 in Nelson County.

The public hearing will be held Thursday, October 16 from 4-6 p.m. at Rockfish Valley Fire Department, 11100 Rockfish Valley Highway, Afton, Virginia 22920. In the event of inclement weather, the alternate date for the public meeting is October 21 at the same time and location.

The purpose of the meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review and discuss plans for the proposed construction of turn lanes at two locations on Route 151, at Routes 635 and 638.

VDOT encourages all interested citizens to attend the public hearing. To give citizens more flexibility in their participation, there will be no formal presentation. Instead, citizens will be able to review maps, drawings and other materials explaining the proposed project and discuss the plans with VDOT representatives at their convenience anytime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Also, citizens will have an opportunity to share comments for the official record anytime during the meeting. Written comments will be accepted during the meeting or may be submitted to VDOT by October 26, 2014(October 31, in case of inclement weather).

Maps and other materials pertaining to the project are available for review at the VDOT Lynchburg District Office, 4219 Campbell Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia. For additional information, or if you require special assistance to participate in the meeting, please call the VDOT District Office at (434) 947-6559 or device for hearing impaired (TTY) at 711.
