waynesboro2editsPress release from the Waynesboro Cultural Commission

Vison Quest : Tuesday, August 26th, at 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the large conference room on the lower level of the Waynesboro Public Library. Light refreshment will be served.

The purpose of the Waynesboro Cultural Commission is to support the arts and culture in Waynesboro. One of the worst things a group can do is commit time and energy to something simply because “we’ve always done it.” We want to step back as we begin the new year and rethink our programs. That’s why we’re contacting you–is there something that your group would like to see happen that we at the Commission could help make possible. We want to explore the myriad of options that exit and determine the best way for the Commission to support our community’s arts and culture.

In the past, we’ve sponsored Waynesboro Writes, a wonderful booklet of writings by students in every elementary school in the City of Waynesboro, from kindergarten to 5th grade. We’ve done this for several years . Should we publish this again?
Short Film Festival – comprised of original shorts by Mid-Atlantic filmmakers. We’ve done this three times, with good response. Should we do it again?

The River City Radio Hour – the Cultural Commission created the Radio Hour and helped to underwrite since 2006 in return for commercials at the performance and on the radio.. Should we continue to be involved?

Perhaps we should think of new programs. For example: Flag Presentations in Downtown Waynesboro for Memorial Day and July 4th; sponsoring speakers to address topics such as writing, music, photography, theatre, creativity – someone to educate and inspire us; hiring a facilitator to come and present a workshop – on what topic? You tell us! Or?

Come help us expand and grow by sharing your thoughts and giving us feedback on the ideas that develop at our Vision Quest.

Come help us explore all the options.

Vision Quest : Tuesday, August 26th, at 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the large conference room on the lower level of the Waynesboro Public Library. Light refreshment will be served.
