Del. Dickie Bell to chair House education subcommittee

Chris Graham

Del. Dickie Bell (R-Staunton) has been appointed by Del. Steve Landes (R-Weyers Cave) as Subcommittee Chairman of  Elementary and Secondary Education, a subcommittee of the House of Delegates Committee on Education.

dickie bellDel. Bell previously served two years as subcommittee chairman of the Students and Early Education subcommittee.  Education committee leadership this year consolidated four subcommittees into three in an effort to streamline education legislation and reform throughout the session and into the interim.

“I’m honored to have been appointed as chairman of the Elementary and Secondary Education subcommittee.” said Bell. “Elementary and Secondary Education has been a passion of mine, and something I have advocated for throughout my two terms in the House of Delegates.  This leadership role further enables me to promote K-12 education reform and gives rural Virginia strong representation on the Education Committee.  I am thankful that Del. Landes has allowed me to once again have this opportunity.”

Elected to the House of Delegates in 2009, Bell represents the 20th District, which includes parts of Nelson and Augusta Counties, Highland County, and the Cities of Waynesboro and Staunton.  Bell was re-elected to his third term in November.
