No trick, no treat: City cancels Halloween event

AFP

pumpkinSafety concerns related to ongoing streetscape work in Downtown Waynesboro has led to the cancellation of the annual Trick-or-Treat Trail Halloween event.

Waynesboro Downtown Development Inc. confirmed the news in its weekly news e-blast Wednesday.

“Due to the safety concerns caused by the downtown streetscape work, there will not be a Trick-or-Treat Trail downtown this year,” read the statement from WDDI.

The move is a bit curious given that the bulk of participating businesses are located in the 300 and 400 blocks of West Main Street, which are not directly impacted by the streetscape work.

Crews have largely finished work in the 100 blocks of North Wayne and South Wayne. Substantial work is under way on the 500 block of West Main.
