UVA Football: ‘Hoos set to face the ballsiest coach in the ACC on Saturday

Vegas is more confident in UVA Football after the beatdown the ‘Hoos put themselves through in Tallahassee this past Saturday than any of us are.

Virginia is somehow a 9.5-point favorite over Syracuse going into this coming Saturday’s needlessly primetime game in Scott Stadium, which will be host to an early Halloween costume contest – fans dressed as empty seats get in free.

Syracuse (2-2, 0-2 ACC) is coming off a 42-41 OT win over UConn this past weekend, in which the Orange nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory – ‘Cuse led 34-14 midway through the third quarter before the Huskies rallied to force the OT.

Syracuse won because head coach Fran Brown showed some stones, going for two and the win after Umari Hatcher scored on a 17-yard TD pass from Amari Odom.

Then came more stones from the head coach: the play call was run, which Odom converted for the two and the dub.

Odom was 27-of-37 for 335 yards and five TDs, with two of his passes intercepted.

Hatcher had 12 catches for 152 yards and three receiving TDs, and tailback Tylik Hill had 140 yards on the ground.

Back on Sept. 17, Syracuse lost to Pitt, 27-13, with the Week 1 starter at QB, Steve Angeli, struggling behind center – 13-of-25, 161 yards, two INTs.

This was after Angeli was 24-of-50 with three INTs in a 21-18 loss to Cal in Week 2.

Brown, notably, stood in front of the media last Monday and declared that he would be sticking with Angeli as his QB1, ahead of sending Odom out there for the first series for the UConn game.

Those aren’t stones; those things are boulders.
