A 9-year-old William Perry Elementary School student took a BB gun to school on Friday; we know because a classmate reported this to a teacher.
Waynesboro Police are weighing criminal charges, per a release from Waynesboro Public Schools that went out on Friday afternoon.
We can imagine that the charges would involve parents or guardians.

The release didn’t give us a time frame for when everything went down, but what we do know, is, a William Perry student reported to a teacher that another student may have had a weapon in a bookbag.
The teacher immediately secured the bookbag, removed the student in question from the classroom, and escorted the student and bookbag to the school office.
A school resource officer was present and responded immediately. Upon searching the bookbag, the SRO located the BB gun.
Following a threat assessment and review of the incident, it was determined that students and staff were not in danger.
