Fenton joins Augusta Health Internal Medicine

Dr. Barbara Fenton, an internist, has joined Augusta Health Internal Medicine in Waynesboro.  The practice is located at 2522 Jefferson Highway in Waynesboro.  The office phone number is 941-7899.

Dr. Fenton has extensive experience in primary care internal medicine in both academic and private practice.  Before coming to Augusta Health, she was Director of Women’s Health for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. 

After graduating from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy, Dr. Fenton received her Doctor of Medicine from George Washington University in 1981 and completed her Internal Medicine residency there.  After residency she fulfilled a three-year commitment of her National Health Service Scholarship at the Stevens Clinic Hospital in Welch, West Virginia.  She has held medical faculty positions at West Virginia University, George Washington University and the University of Virginia.  In addition, she has served in several humanitarian missions including Project Hope in Indonesia after the tsunami, Hurricane Katrina Relief in New Orleans and three missions in Corumba, Brazil with the Brazil Project.
