A local woman is sharing her love of baking with Wenonah Elementary school families sharing fresh bread and other items each month.

Lauren Wisherd, owner of Bonobos Bakery on the East Main Street in Waynesboro, reached out to the school with an offer to bake and donate fresh loaves of bread.

Plans are underway to deliver freshly baked bread to the school on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, with the possibility of adding other simple meal items like peanut butter, jelly or sliced cheese to create ready-to-enjoy mini meal kits.

Bonobos has recently grown her business through TikTok videos selling as many as 700 rolls in a single day, helping her hire additional staff and acquire new equipment. Most days, the bakery sells out before its scheduled closing time.

“One of the main values of Bonobos is supporting our community,” Wisherd said. “We’ve been so fortunate to see our business grow, and we want to give back in the best way we know how- by baking!

“Food brings people together, and if we can help ease food insecurity in our community, that’s exactly what we want to do.”.

The principal of Wenonah is thankful for the partnership with Wisherd.

“We are happy to be able to provide this support to many of our families during challenging times,” said Abby Arey.
