Donald Trump doesn’t know the name of Winsome Earle-Sears, but he told reporters, when asked about the Virginia governor’s race Sunday night, that “she” should win, so, he at least knows that Earle-Sears is a “she,” and that whatever her name is, “she” is running for governor.
Poor Earle-Sears, for her part, “she” is counting Trump knowing that “she” exists, and that “she” is a “she,” as a throaty endorsement of her candidacy.
“Thank you for your kind words of support, President Trump,” Earle-Sears posted to her socials on Monday, addressing the closest thing to an endorsement from Trump “she” will apparently get.
The endorsement for “she” came as Trump was being quizzed on the Virginia race on Air Force One on Sunday night, as he returned from his latest taxpayer-funded multimillion-dollar golf trip to Florida.

He conceded that he hasn’t been “too much involved in Virginia,” which is to say, he hasn’t been “involved” at all, despite Earle-Sears publicly begging him for an endorsement.
Trump loves people begging him for things, almost as much as he loves bragging about himself.
“I love the state. I did very well in the state,” Trump told reporters, with a straight face and everything, after endorsing “she.”
Reality check: Trump has lost Virginia each of the three times he ran for president – Hillary Clinton beat him by 5.3 points in 2016; Joe Biden got him by 10.1 points in 2020; Kamala Harris won by 5.7 points in 2024.
“I did very well in the state.”
Oh-for-three.
Blowout losses each time.
“I think the Republican candidate is excellent, and I think the Democrat candidate is a disaster,” Trump continued on, again, not betraying knowledge of names, because he doesn’t, in fact, know them.
“I mean, I watched her” – ostensibly referring there to the Democrat, Abigail Spanberger – “in the debate. She couldn’t answer the most basic question,” Trump said.
If you’re waiting to get a sense of what that “most basic question” might have been that the other “she” couldn’t answer, you’re going to be waiting a while, because he doesn’t know either.
Trump, who famously has trouble staying on any topic for more than a few seconds, went from talking about how “she couldn’t answer the most basic question” to riffing on energy prices.
The news here, then: Trump endorsed the one “she,” and thinks the other “she” is a disaster, and the one “she” seems to think this will help her.
