Trump: ‘Couldn’t care less’ if Epstein files released; so, what’s the holdup?

Donald Trump “couldn’t care less” if his DOJ releases the entirety of the Jeffrey Epstein files, he said today, which raises the question: what is he waiting for?

“You’ve got a lot of people that could be mentioned in those files that don’t deserve to be, you know, people, because he knew everybody in Palm Beach,” the Epstein best friend said in a media avail following a photo-op promoting the 2026 World Cup.

Sounds like Trump is conceding, finally, what we’ve known for a few weeks – that his name is in the files of the disgraced billionaire financier and prolific child rapist, who was a close confidant of Trump dating back to the 1980s.

He didn’t have 1,000 FBI agents working to flag his name in the files that he’s now apparently quick willing to get into the public domain for nothing.

The pumping-the-brakes moment with respect to the Epstein files, and Trump’s willingness to get everything on the table, came in the president’s next breath, as he continued his answer in the media avail.

“I don’t know anything about that, but I have said to Pam [Bondi, his attorney general] and everybody else, give them everything you can give them, because it’s a Democrat hoax. It’s just a hoax, the whole Epstein thing is a Democrat hoax,” Trump said.

Here we go.

He would go on to repeat the claim that former president Bill Clinton was on Epstein’s private island “supposedly 28 times,” after which he added, “I don’t want to bring that up, frankly.”

Clever.

Trump then added a new claim, at least from Trump, that former Clinton and Obama advisor Larry Summers “was Jeffrey Epstein’s best friend.”

“Nobody ever talks about that. I mean, I don’t want to hurt Larry Summers, but,” Trump said.

You see what he’s doing here.

You really don’t want me to release these files, do you, because it will hurt Democrats as much as it hurts me.
