Staunton Schools celebrates the graduating Class of 2025, who was awarded $519,500 in scholarship funding for their education after high school.
Staunton High School graduated 169 students, 52 of which graduated with honors and 65 with advanced diplomas.
Fifty-five graduates have plans to attend four-year colleges and 50 plan to attend two-year colleges, while 51 plan to enter the workforce.
Eleven graduates will attend a trade school or have other educational plans after high school. Two members of the Class of 2025 will enter the United States military.
Schools Superintendent Dr. Garett Smith will retire on June 30 and the final graduating class under his leadership honored him for his support and commitment to students, as well as his leadership of the division-wide Kindness Matters campaign. The Class of 2025 dedicated a bench in his honor, which was installed days before graduation. The bench serves as a lasting symbol of the compassion and connections Smith fostered throughout his tenure with Staunton Schools. 
During Staunton High‘s graduation ceremony, the senior class presented Smith with a commemorative plaque as a token of their gratitude and admiration.
