UVA Basketball alums Ryan Dunn and Reece Beekman met on an NBA court for the first time on Wednesday night in Brooklyn.

Dunn, a 2024 first-round pick of the Phoenix Suns, started and had six points and three assists for the Suns in the 108-84 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Beekman, an undrafted free agent acquired by the Nets in a December trade, got 21 minutes off the bench, and had four points, three rebounds and three assists in the loss.

Dunn, briefly a walk-on at UVA, who played his way from there to being a first-round pick in two short years, is averaging 7.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for Phoenix in his rookie season, shooting 45.4 percent overall from the floor and 31.4 percent from three.

Dunn is coming off a five-game stretch between Jan. 11 and Jan. 18 in which he averaged 13.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, with a career high 18 points and 11 rebounds in the 130-123 win at Washington on Jan. 16.

Beekman was a four-year starter for Tony Bennett. He’s averaging 2.7 points and 1.4 assists in 11.1 minutes per game in 14 games with Brooklyn since being acquired from Golden State.

Beekman primarily played in the G League while with the Warriors, averaging 18.7 points and 6.8 assists per game with the club’s affiliate in Santa Cruz.
