‘Hoos in the G League: Reece Beekman starts strong with Santa Cruz

Reece Beekman, who has gotten garbage-time minutes in two games with Golden State this season, had two solid outings for the Warriors’ G League affiliate in Santa Cruz over the weekend.

The four-year UVA Basketball starter had had 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting an seven assists in 34 minutes for Santa Cruz in a 133-118 win over the Valley Suns on Friday.

In that one, another UVA Basketball alum, Mamadi Diakite, had seven points, five rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes for the Suns.

The two teams ran it back on Saturday, and Beekman had 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting, 2-of-5 from three, six assists, and one turnover in 28 minutes in a 133-104 loss.

Diakite had 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting in 22 minutes for the Suns in the win.

Elsewhere


Braxton Key had 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the San Diego Clippers in a 122-107 win over Rip City on Friday.
