Another Saturday with 20K-plus empties at a UVA Football home game

There were 38,285 people in Scott Stadium to watch UVA Football get to 4-1 on the season for the first time in five years.

Which is to say, there were 23,215 empty seats.

This is, to say the least, not a good look on UVA Athletics, and in particular the athletics director, Carla Williams, who has had (checks notes) seven years to figure out how to get butts in seats, and yet, here we are.

They are trying something different with Louisville coming to town next weekend.

UVA Athletics sent an email to its list after Saturday’s 24-14 win over Boston College offering tickets 24 percent off face value, starting at $19, for a 24-hour window going into Sunday afternoon.

The offer expires at 6 p.m. Sunday.

And then it will be time to try something else as the week goes on to get more butts in seats, because there’s no reason that Tony Elliott and Co. should have a 4-1 team in place playing in front of a sea of empties.

UVA Nation, you’re better than that.
