Albemarle County: One person dead in early Friday morning structure fire

One person is dead from injuries in a structure fire in Albemarle County early Friday morning.

According to Albemarle County Fire Rescue, career and volunteer units were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 4000 block of Jacobs Creek Drive in Scottsville at 4:38 a.m.

The first fire suppression apparatus arrived on scene 20 minutes after dispatch and discovered a heavily involved single-wide trailer with fire spreading to a nearby vehicle.

At the time of the fire, one resident was home, and the resident suffered fatal injuries.

The identification of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The fire does not appear suspicious.
