UVA Basketball alum Mamadi Diakite, who saw limited action in the 2023-2024 NBA season with San Antonio and New York, is now on his way to Memphis, part of a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

Yes, this is dizzying.

Diakite, a key contributor on the 2019 national-title team at UVA, was sent from the Knicks to the Nets as part of the Mykal Bridges trade two weeks ago.

Diakite saw action in six games in the 2023-2024 season, averaging 2.0 points per game in those appearances.

The latest trade that Diakite is involved in was more about Memphis moving former lottery pick Ziaire Williams to try to clear salary-cap space.

Williams is set to make $6.1 million this season. Diakite is in the final year of a two-year deal paying him $1.39 million per.

Don’t be surprised if the Grizzlies end up buying out Diakite and making him a free agent.
