A penalty kick with 14 seconds left lifted Wake Forest to a 3-2 win over Virginia on Saturday in Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest (5-2-1, 2-1 ACC) was awarded a penalty kick after a shot deflected off the hand of a Cavalier defender inside the penalty area.
Tate Lorentz converted to secure the three points for the Demon Deacons.
Virginia (3-4-1, 1-1-0 ACC) trailed 2-0 at the break, but got back into it with two goals in a two-minute stretch – with Brendan Lambe finding Marco Dos Santos in the penalty area for a goal in the 53rd minute, and AJ Smith collecting a loose ball at the top of the area and firing it into the corner to level the game two minutes later.
