The Waynesboro Public Library will soon be the home to a life-size, flesh-model Jefferson’s ground sloth named “Clawd.”

The sloth will be installed on Monday by the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

The model stands more than 7 feet tall.

Though now extinct, the sloths that “Clawd” represents lived throughout North America during the last Ice Age.

Once installed, the display will remain on exhibit at the library throughout the summer.

The museum currently has two life-size dinosaur cast skeletons on exhibit at the library. These two displays will be removed and returned to VMNH to be displayed during the museum’s Dino Festival taking place July 26-27 in Martinsville. The displays will stay at the museum through the summer.

The Waynesboro Public Library is located at 600 S. Wayne Ave. in Waynesboro.
