A pair of Waynesboro Generals were among five Valley League players honored as players of the week Tuesday.

Tennessee Tech lefty Adam Liberatore picked up two wins in two starts last week – giving up no runs and six hits in 13 1/3 innings and posting 18 strikeouts. Liberatore is 3-0 with a 0.62 ERA in 2008 with 32 Ks in 29 innings pitched.

Potomac State shortstop Jacke Healey was honored after racking up two homers, five doubles, five runs scored, seven RBIs and a .409 batting average last week. Healey is hitting .279 this year for the Generals with three homers, 16 RBIs and 12 runs scored.

Also honored by the league were:

– New Market righthanded pitcher Steve Owens (Richmond), who recorded a complete-game shutout over Front Royal last week.

– Woodstock utility man Cody Brown (Tennessee), who went 10-for-18 last week to improve his batting average in ’08 to .407 with seven RBIs and 13 runs scored on the season.

– Harrisonburg outfielder Drew Johnson (San Francisco), who hit .476 last week with two homers and six RBIs.
