A milestone, and a programming lineup change

2,004 AND COUNTING: Cue Kool & The Gang. It’s Celebration Time for “The Augusta Free Press Show.”

We passed the 2,000-subscriber mark earlier today, and as of the last check this afternoon, we stood at 2,004 subscribers to our webcast.

Not bad, considering that the show debuted 16 months ago.

Thanks for listening, and like I say at the end of most of our shows, “Let’s talk again soon.”

PROGRAMMING CHANGE: A shift in the schedule is coming upon us next week. To accommodate the beginning of the college-football season, we’re moving the weekly sports edition of “The Augusta Free Press Show” from Tuesdays to Wednesdays. That gives us the ability to share audio from the weekly teleconferences with Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer, Virginia coach Al Groh and JMU coach Mickey Matthews.

Our arts and culture show will shift from Wednesdays to Tuesdays. Politics Thursday will emerge from this shuffling unscathed.

Making the case for universal health care: The message is the message

Republicans use framing to deride universal health care when they use the terms “free health care” and “socialized medicine.” UHC is neither free nor socialized medicine, but the terms stick.
