Late First Aid Crew, Fire Department member honored with scholarship in his name

The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge announces the recent creation of the John W. Greene Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund was created by the Waynesboro First Aid Crew along with an anonymous donor. Mr. Greene was a dedicated member of the Waynesboro First Aid Crew and the Waynesboro Fire Department.

The John W. Greene Memorial Scholarship was established to provide funds for educational scholarships to Waynesboro First Aid Crew members and/or their family members and Waynesboro Fire Department members and/or their family members. Applications are now being accepted through Oct. 23, 2009 and the 10 $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in December 2009 for the 2010-2011 school year.

The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge administers over 25 scholarship funds for graduating seniors and adults pursuing higher education.
