leake-deyoStandup comedy can be clean. Brett Leake and Tony Deyo, who will perform at the Wayne Theatre/Ross Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 29, prove it.

Leake, a Wayne Theatre regular, will join Deyo on the bill for Clean, Smart Standup Comedy, with the show beginning at 7 p.m.

“We’ve been fortunate to have had Brett Leake as part of our programming since our days at the Gateway Theatre. He has built quite a following here in Waynesboro,” said Tracy Straight, the executive director of the Wayne Theatre.

Leake, who resides in Central Virginia, got his start in stand-up in 1983, and in 1991 became the first comedian with a physical disability to perform on The Tonight Show. A self-styled sitdown comic, Leake has not let muscular dystrophy slow him down. He has performed at the Smithsonian, the Kennedy Center and has hosted his own PBS one-man show, all the while doing more than 225 shows a year on the road across the United States. More info on Leake is online at brettleake.com.

Deyo has a show on SiriusXM radio, and he made his TV debut in 2013 on Conan, and appeared later that year on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. More info on Deyo is online attonydeyo.com.

Tickets for the Oct. 29 show are $17.

The Wayne Theatre/Ross Performing Arts Center is located at 521 West Main Street in downtown Waynesboro.
