A Chamber Music Concert, performed by members of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, will take place on June 9 at 8 p.m. at the Church of Our Saviour, 1165 Rio Rd E, in Charlottesville.
Performers include Susan Black (violin), Content Sablinsky (piano), Jay Crone, (trombone), Brian Thorsett (tenor), Tom Stevens (viola), Sandra Gerster (oboe), and Mary Kay Adams (flute).
The program, one hour in length, will include Serenade by Beethoven for flute, violin, and viola; Duo by Ginastera for flute and oboe; three Irish folksongs for tenor, arranged by Britten: How sweet the answer, Last rose of summer, and Avenging and bright; one Bach work for tenor, violin, and piano: Ich traue seiner Gnade; and two Bach works for trombone and piano: Agnus Dei and Ebarme Dich.
Admission is free, and donations for the 24th annual Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, slated for June 12-19 in Harrisonburg, are welcome at the concert or online. http://www.emu.edu/bach/chamber/
About the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival
The Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, founded in 1992, is an annual summer music festival that takes place on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University and at First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, VA. During the week June 12-19, 2016, a feast of orchestral, choral, and chamber music concerts as well as a Leipzig Service are scheduled in Harrisonburg. The Festival Orchestra features fine professional musicians from all over the country. The Festival Choir, a volunteer ensemble, features both amateur and professional vocalists.
