The Central Shenandoah EMS Council welcomed a gift of $11,823.00 from Sentara RMH Medical Center to support availability the CSEMS regional Prehospital Standard Patient Treatment Protocol Field Guides.
The donation will fund the printing and availability of 2100 field guides—one for each EMS provider in the region.
The CSEMS Prehospital Standard Patient Treatment Protocol Field Guide is a 3.5 by 5-inch abbreviated version of the full CSEMS Prehospital Standard Patient Treatment Protocols which easily carried in an EMS provider’s pocket. The field guide is a quick and easy reference to assist the EMS provider in recalling knowledge acquired or confirmed from the full CSEMS Prehospital Standard Patient Treatment Protocols and other sources.
“Local EMS professionals are committed to delivering exceptional emergency medical care in their communities. They strive for seamless care, from the field to the hospital emergency department or trauma center,” Executive Director Chad Blosser said. “Access to the CSEMS Field Guide is key to ensuring that patients receive efficient and effective care based on medically approved protocols.”
Central Shenandoah EMS Council provides regional planning and EMS educational services which helps coordinate a seamless regional network of emergency responders working together as a team, regardless of municipal boundaries, ensuring every day that those with the most critical emergencies receive the highest level of care.
“When it comes to caring for our patients, it truly is a team effort,” said Marcus Almarode, Director of the Sentara RMH Emergency Department. “We are glad to be able to support our local EMS in this way as we all work together to improve the health of those in our community.”

We gratefully accept Sentara’s donation to fund the printing of this vital tool which will be distributed to over 1900 EMS providers in the valley,” said Gary Critzer, president of the CSEMS Board of Directors.
