As a member of the law enforcement community for the last 32 years, I’m very proud of our men and women who walk the thin blue line. I’m proud to have served along side members both past and present of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.
Knowing all four of the candidates on a professional level, I would ask everyone to research the candidates thoroughly and choose based on his ability to be a successful sheriff.
After serious consideration, I’m endorsing Neil Kester as our next sheriff of Augusta County.
I’m backing Neil, whom I have known for the past 23 years on a professional as well as a personal level. As a young officer with the Staunton Police Department, Neil would not hesitate to call and ask advice or for assistance with police or personal matters. When he was making the decision to leave the SPD, he asked for my advice about this career move. My interview with the Virginia Game Commission ended me giving Neil a positive reference for the position of Conservation Police Officer. As a Conservation Police Officer, Neil continues to exert the same energy as he did as that young Staunton Officer. When he was considering his run for sheriff he again sought my advice and I encouraged him to seek his dream and to always better himself. Neil will continue to exhibit the same enthusiasm as our Sheriff.
During these last 23 years in which I have known Neil, he has been nothing but professional, a man of integrity and one of utmost honesty.
So, it is without hesitation I’m asking the citizens of Augusta County to vote Neil Kester as our Sheriff.
