Chris Graham

MERC EVENT BANNER 5The women’s fitness community in Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta County is getting together to Make Every Rep Count for five local charities. Shenandoah Powerhouse Gym, the Waynesboro YMCA, Anytime Fitness, Crossift and Staunton Health & Fitness are partnering in the Saturday, Nov. 7 event that will raise money for the charities using competitive weightlifting.

Make Every Rep Count will engage more than 40 local competitive weightlifters who will work to raise money through sponsors and individual pledges to benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, MaDee Project, Staunton/Augusta/Waynesboro Boys and Girls Club, Valley Young Life, and Waynesboro Area Learning and Technology Center.

Steph and KatherinThe fundraiser has set a $6,000 campaign goal.

Weightlifters in three classes – women’s 125lb, women’s 150lb and women’s unlimited – will compete to see who can throw up the most weight and also raise the most money for their charities.

Stephanie Duncan and Katherin Kane from the Waynesboro YMCA have signed up to take part in the Make Every Rep Count event and are working to get sponsors and pledges from individuals.

The two are training to compete in the four power lifts that will be featured in the event: squat, deadlift, bench press and power clean.
