A release from the Beth Macy congressional campaign that went out on Tuesday tells us that the Democrat raised more than $1 million for her campaign for the Sixth District seat in the third quarter of 2026.
The report for the period July 15-Sept. 30 is not available for review at this writing through the Federal Election Commission for us to be able to verify, or to get an exact figure.
We also don’t have information from the Ben Cline campaign on its activity in the July 15-Sept. 30 period at this writing.
Receipts for Macy at more than $1 million for the third quarter would put her total for the cycle in the range of $2.7 million total.
For context there:
- Ken Mitchell, the 2024 Democratic nominee in the Sixth, reported $188,758 in total receipts for the entire campaign cycle.
- Jennifer Lewis, the 2022 nominee, reported $149,843 in total receipts.
- Nicholas Betts, the 2020 nominee, reported $57,705 in total receipts.
- Lewis, also the Democratic nominee in 2018, in Cline’s first run for the seat, reported $426,748 in receipts.
From a money perspective, then, Macy is showing a viability that we have not seen from a Democratic candidate in the Sixth since Republicans took hold of the seat in the 1992 cycle – which was when the GOP’s streak of 17 straight blowout wins in the Sixth began.
Since 1993, just one Democratic nominee – Lewis in 2018 – surpassed 40 percent of the vote in the Sixth.
The release from the Macy campaign highlights that 75 percent of the donations to the effort are under $100 each, and that the campaign has received money from in the range of 25,000 individual donors.
“I am grateful to the people who have contributed their hard-earned money to my campaign to flip the Sixth District,” Macy said in a statement. “These contributions mean so much more than just dollars, although the dollars certainly help. They represent real people who are hungering for change and who believe that a better future for all Americans is near. We have all the momentum running down the stretch. We have the belief, the drive and the support to win this election.”
