Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth, seniors and faculty/staff. Group ticket orders of 20 or more tickets are $4 (available in advance). Free parking is available in the University Hall and John Paul Jones Arena lots.
Virginia-Portland Series
Virginia is 2-0 all time versus Portland. Both meetings took place during UVA’s national championship season of 2009. UVA won the first game of the season at Portland, 3-0, and the second in an NCAA tournament match at Klöckner Stadium, 1-0.
Foss Pushes UVA to 3-2 Win Over Louisville
Patrick Foss scored a pair of second-half goals, including the game winner from midfield with 1:34 remaining, as Virginia outlasted Louisville, 3-2, Friday in rainy, windy conditions at Klöckner Stadium. The wild second half featured four goals, including three over the final 16 minutes.
UVA goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell recorded four saves, while UL keeper Theo Jamiloux stopped one shot.
The Cavaliers scored a season-high three goals, their most since Nov. 23, 2014, in a 3-1 NCAA tournament win against UNC Wilmington.
Foss Comes Up Big on 21st
Playing on his 21st birthday, Patrick Foss scored his first two goals of the season in the second half Friday. His second came on a free kick from just outside midfield from approximately 65 yards with just over one minute left. The goal was ranked as the No. 3 highlight on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 on Friday evening and was featured on several national news outlets.
Foss also scored in the 74th minute on a free kick from 40 yards.
Salandy-Defour Returns to Mix
Marcus Salandy-Defour started in the Cavaliers’ midfield against Louisville. It marked his first game action since Dec. 13, 2013, in the College Cup against Maryland. Salandy-Defour missed the 2014 season with a knee injury and the first eight games in 2015 with leg injuries. He promptly made an impact, scoring a goal in the first half on his first shot of the season.
Noting Portland
Portland is 2-5-2 after falling 2-0 at Longwood on Thursday. The Pilots have played a tough schedule and own a 1-0 win over then-No. 8 Oregon State as well as a scoreless draw at No. 10 Washington just prior to their East Coast trip. Erik Edwardson, Hugo Rhoads and Thomas Peterson each own a pair of goals this year.
Defense Looks to Tighten
Virginia’s defense is looking to bounce back after giving up multiple goals in each of its last two matches. UVA allowed just four goals in its first seven games but has conceded five times in the last two matches. The Cavaliers had recorded three straight clean sheets prior to the recent stretch.

Virginia faces Boston College in Newton, Mass., at 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 9). The Cavaliers return home next Tuesday (Oct. 13) for a 7 p.m. match with American before entertaining Pitt on Friday, Oct. 16 in an 8 p.m. game.
