Do either VCU or Virginia Tech have a good shot of getting into the NCAAs?

vcu.jpgvatech_thumbnail.jpgIt was a devastating couple of hours for VCU and Virginia Tech.

The Rams (24-7, RPI 53) lost to fifth-seeded William and Mary 56-54 in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech (18-12, RPI 57) lost on the road at Clemson by a 70-69 final.

VCU is probably done for as far as an NCAA berth is concerned. Tech has a shot at playing its way off the bubble if it can win a game or two in Charlotte this weekend, but that won’t be easy, given a likely ACC Tournament quarterfinals matchup with Miami and a possible semifinals matchup with top-ranked North Carolina.

Looks like our hopes for landing a team in the Big Dance are going to rest on the winner of tonight’s CAA championship game between George Mason and William and Mary.

Or …

My question for today …
