The UVa. women’s basketball team (13-15, 6-9 ACC) fell 83-63 to Miami (15-13, 7-8 ACC) in UVa’s final regular-season home game of the 2013-14 campaign.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will close a portion of Interstate 64 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on March 10 and March 11 for bridge work between mile markers 89 and 93 in the Fishersville area of Augusta County.

Due to Saturday’s UVa.. home men’s basketball game against Syracuse (March 1 at 4 p.m.), parking for fans attending the Virginia women’s lacrosse game against Penn State (March 1 at noon) and the Virginia baseball game against Monmouth (March 1 at 1 p.m.) will be impacted.

The top-ranked UVa. baseball team continues its homestand this weekend with a three-game series against Monmouth. Game times are slated for 3 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.uva

The #11 Virginia Cavaliers took down Miami 65-40 Wednesday night. Virginia freshman London Perrantes scored a career-high 15 points and shot a perfect 4-4 from 3-point range. Malcolm Brogdon also scored 15 points for the Cavaliers. Virginia moves to 15-1 in the ACC and gets ready for their big showdown against #4 Syracuse on Saturday.

UVa. won its school-record 15th ACC game of the season. The Cavaliers extended their win streak to 12 straight games, their longest ACC win streak since 1981-82.

Miami made it interesting for a half, but #11 UVa. held the Hurricanes to four field goals in a dominating second half en route to posting a 65-4o win Wednesday in Charlottesville, Va.

Congressman Robert Hurt (R-Va.) voted in favor of H.R. 3865, the Stop Targeting of Political Beliefs by the IRS Act, which sponsors say would prohibit the Department of Treasury and the IRS from finalizing regulations that seek to curb the speech of groups in a politically-motivated fashion.
