Commonwealth expands popular “You Can! Live Well, Virginia!” program

Following a successful introduction in Virginia, the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services is expanding a popular chronic disease self-management education program that has helped more than 3,500 Virginians learn to live healthier lives. The program, “You Can! Live Well, Virginia!” is available for older adults as well as adults with disabilities through a partnership between local Area Agencies on Aging, DARS, and Virginia’s departments of Health and Medical Assistance Services.

JMU struck for nine runs in the third inning and pounded out a season-high 16 hits while four pitchers tossed a three-hitter to win the second game of a baseball doubleheader against Binghamton, 14-1, after dropping the opener 5-1 on Sunday afternoon at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park.

The James Madison baseball team notched its first win of the 2013 season as the Dukes took down the Binghamton Bearcats 9-1 in the second game of the Saturday doubleheader. JMU had nine runs off of 12 hits with no errors while Binghamton plated one run off of eight hits with one error.

The House of Delegates and State Senate both voted Saturday to pass a state budget bill with language that will form a 10-person commission to review and examine health care reforms before allowing Virginia to proceed with full Medicaid expansion.

The No. 25 UVa. baseball won its sixth straight game to start the 2013 season Saturday, downing Toledo, 5-0, at Davenport Field. Scott Silverstein (R-Sr., Olney, Md.) and Whit Mayberry (Sr., Alexandria, Va.) combined on a five-hitter as the Cavaliers (6-0) recorded their second straight shutout against the Rockets (1-3).
