It occurs to me that Constitution isn’t the problem. The president isn’t the problem — or it’s always the same problem, depending on your perspective. No, the problem is a Congress that plays games all year long, partying and trading favors with special interests, with no idea of its constitutional responsibility or its duty to we the people.

McDonnell proposes new funding to help efforts to reduce homelessness

Gov. Bob McDonnell today announced that his upcoming budget will contain considerable new funding to support Virginia’s ongoing homelessness reduction and prevention efforts. The governor will call for over $9.5 million in additional funding for the Virginia Housing Trust Fund, the Rapid Re-Housing Program, and efforts to further enhance data collection.

Former Waynesboro General Erik Kratz has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays after three seasons with his hometown Philadelphia Phillies. Kratz, a catcher, was traded along with minor league pitcher Rob Rasmussen for relief pitcher Brad Lincoln. Kratz, an EMU alum, will battle for the backup catcher spot with returner Josh Thole.

State Board of Elections certifies Mark Herring winner in attorney general race

The State Board of Elections voted unanimously Monday to certify Democrat Mark Herring as the winner in the hotly-contested state attorney general race. Herring defeated Republican Mark Obenshain by 165 votes out of the more than 2.2 million votes cast in the Nov. 5 election, easily the closest margin percentage-wise in state political history.
